Artistic activity/work area Walter Wetter works with metal elements, cast parts, industrial and electrical scrap, laboratory glassware and discarded objects from the medical and pharmaceutical industries, which he purchases in connection with industrial scrap yards or which he collects during his forays into flea markets. The extensive range of shapes and materials that are stacked in the artist's studio are in turn further processed with epoxy casting resin (cast, glued, colored or used for mold making) and, among other things, with high-tech components (fibre optic cable, LEDs, electroluminescence foils, shape memory material, etc.) are newly expanded into sculptures, assemblages or into light objects, light installations. The artistic process of taking individual parts from reality, converting them, combining them with high-tech components using free combinatorics and transferring the latent form qualities of the found objects into unexpected contexts of meaning shows the relationship of Wetter's art to surrealism.
